Ebola vaccine

The Ebola vaccine trial run by the Jenner Institute (University of Oxford) has now been given regulatory approval and is open for recruitment of healthy volunteers. The CBF will import, certify and label the adenovirus vaccine for the Phase I trial including 60 volunteers within the next few days.

The vaccine, which was co-developed by Glaxo Smith Kline and the US National Institute of Health showed promising results in pre-clinical studies in non-human primates (for further information please see here); and if the trial in Oxford is successful, two further Phase I studies will go ahead in Mali and The Gambia.
