Emma Bolam
Head of Production
After graduating with a biology degree, I worked in a NHS clinical immunology laboratory for three years. I then joined the University’s Therapeutic Antibody Centre for almost ten years, generating cell lines and producing and testing monoclonal antibodies for clinical trials. Since the CBF was established in 2005, I have helped develop and produce more than 20 different vaccines for clinical trials. I am a qualified auditor of GMP Pharmaceutical Quality Systems and now have almost 25 years’ experience in GMP for Investigational Medicinal Products. In April 2020, the CBF’s production team manufactured the UK’s first COVID-19 vaccine (ChAdOx1 nCoV-19).
