The International Pandemic Sciences Conference 2024, held on 1 and 2 July in Oxford and online, has concluded with remarkable success, drawing over 700 delegates from more than 60 countries.

 

The event provided a platform for researchers, industry experts and policymakers to explore the latest advancements in pandemic sciences and foster international collaboration. 

The two-day conference offered an extensive scientific programme of cutting-edge presentations, posters and invaluable networking opportunities. 

Attendees engaged with a diverse range of topics including Vaccines and immunology, Epidemiology, data and analytics, Diagnostics, Policy and politics, Therapeutics and clinical trials, Ethics, social science and humanities, and Pathogen biology and new threats. 

The event was marked by inspiring presentations from experts representing world-leading organisations, including the World Health OrganizationInternational Pandemic Preparedness SecretariatInstitute for Fiscal StudiesGaviEuropean Medicines AgencyWits Reproductive Health and HIV Institute, icddr,bThe Peter Doherty InstituteJohn Hopkins University, University of TorontoHarvard University and many others. These sessions provided critical insights and sparked important discussions on shaping future strategies for pandemic preparedness and response. 

The conference featured over 115 poster presenters, 52 oral presenters for the parallel sessions and more than 63 presenters for the plenary sessions.  

The event also facilitated networking opportunities through an early-career breakfast and an evening of informal drinks and dinner at the Oxford University Museum of Natural History, which was a highlight for many attendees.

The International Pandemic Sciences Conference has set a new standard for global dialogue and collaboration in pandemic sciences.
